COLGATE PALMOLIVE DEMOLITION PROJECT

Snapshot

Demolition of the Colgate Palmolive manufacturing facility located at LOGOS’ Gold Coast Logistics Hub. The project included the complete demolition of two major structures and several smaller facilities.

Project Role

Principal Contractor

Project Scope

The demolition works included a three storey Oral Care Building and a six storey Fabric Care Building. The mechanical demolition was completed using DEMEX’s 62T high reach demolition excavator supported by our fleet of 20T to 30T machines. Due to the nature of the structure, to safely demolish the six storey Fabric Care Building, the induced collapse method was utilised by removing the key structural members and applying a force to enable the structure to fall in a controlled manner to the dedicated exclusion zone. The adoption of this method greatly increased the safety of the demolition works as it eliminated workers entering the structure.

Project Highlights

The isolated nature of the site also presented security issues however both matters were effectively addressed by the DEMEX project team.
