Located in the heart of the busy Broadbeach shopping precinct, demolition of the Oasis Shopping Mall pedestrian bridge was a relatively straightforward project that presented logistical challenges. With business trading and the high foot and vehicle traffic a feature of the area, it was necessary to demonstrate our approach to the demolition could be done swiftly, safely and with minimal disruption to the local businesses and traffic conditions.
Negotiated with the local Gold Coast City Council, police and Workplace Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ) to undertake a four day closure of the area surrounding the pedestrian bridge. We worked alongside an independent traffic control company and developed detailed traffic management plans, installed permanent diversions around the area, and communicated with the local traders to manage the disruption caused by the project.
Project completed safely, no damage incurred to assets, area returned to original state on completion, established and maintained excellent community relationships before and during project delivery.
