Demolition of three buildings, including two office buildings and one mechanical workshop
Sub-contractor
The three buildings were demolished sequentially and required a shutdown of Vulture Street, a Brisbane inner city Brisbane road. As the last building in the project was formed using asbestos sheeting, it was determined the only safe way to demolish it was mechanically and under asbestos conditions, a process negotiated through successful engagement of Workplace Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ). This required building to be scaffolded and wrapped to encapsulate it fully for the demolition. A water suppression systems was engineered and installed for dust suppression. Dust monitoring was conducted for the duration of the project, while drainage and retention pits for contaminated water run-off were also installed. Our team successfully negotiated road closures and engaged an independent hygienist to work on site full time for the duration of the project.
Successful planning and execution of a high risk asbestos demolition in built up city location. Independently assessed rigorous risk management processes in place for environmental and other hazards.
